My co-workers and I had a great opportunity this morning to participate in “Stuff the Bus.” For those of you that have not heard of it, “Stuff the Bus” is an opportunity to donate school supplies for school age kids that participate in the “Kids in Transition” program within the Clovis Unified School District. To put it more simply, this is a wonderful event to help kids whose parents or guardians do not have enough money to buy the basic necessities needed for the upcoming school year.
Acceptable items to donate include backpacks, pens, pencils, colored pencils, highlighters, notebooks, binders, glue sticks, sticky notes, dry erase boards, dry erase markers, dry erasers, rulers, scissors, or any other school supplies you can think of.
Today was the last day to drop off your items to “The Bus” located at Sierra Vista Mall just off the southeast corner of Clovis and Shaw Avenue. But, there is still time…you can drop off your donations to the Book Barn located at 640 Clovis Avenue through Saturday!
Some of you may say, “I want to help but don’t have any time to shop.” Guess what, you can make a financial donation at The Book Barn. Give them a call at (559) 825-2318 for more information.
Please, please, please remember, you don’t have to buy out the entire store of WalMart or Target to make a difference. Most of us work in order to take care of our own families BUT any items, however large or small, truly do make a difference.
Lastly, I wanted to share with you that I brought my daughter with me this morning to help in loading the school supplies that Chandler Law had purchased. This is a great opportunity to show our kids that even at their young age, they too can make a difference in our community.
Let’s show our Clovis kids how much we care, come out and STUFF THAT BUS!!!
